TechFest18

I went yesterday to Valencia to participate in the third edition of TechFest, a two-day event of workshops and conferences about civic participation systems and technology. This event was organized by the Cátedra de Transparencia y Gestión de Datos at Universitat Politècnica de València, which is promoted by the Area of Transparency, Social Responsibility, Participation and Cooperation of the Valencia Regional Government. I was part of a panel about “Civic participation, technology and application”, moderated by Aitana Mas (Valencian Regional Govenment), with Andreu Climent (Hospital Gregorio Marañón), Matías Nso (Kuorum) and Enrique Ujaldón (Murcian Regional Government). While my talk in the last week in Zaragoza focused on data visualization issues, I presented here a more general approach of Decidim. This was a very enriching experience since the talks served to trigger a very lively debate among the panel members and the audience about the role of science and technology in civic participation and policy making.
